How it works

Already working with Claude or ChatGPT? Nothing changes for you. MOD-RAT builds a bridge to the DeepSeek API and sends the long jobs through it — the ones that eat your quota.

01The bridge

You write the job as usual. Behind the scenes, the heavy work goes out to DeepSeek on your own key.

02The terminal

Inside there is a tabbed terminal: You, Mod, Fat and the little rats. You read what each one writes as it writes it.

03The split

Three sliders decide how much work goes to each provider. Each one in its provider's colour.

House rule: long but not hard goes to the cheap one. Short but delicate stays with the expensive one.

What it costs

The heavy work goes to the cheap provider, and the bill shows it. No figures yet: they are being measured properly, and until that is done, no number goes here.

What you do get: the spend runs on your own key, and you watch it add up live on the costs screen while it works.

07 · no tricks

The small print

  • Windows. It is a desktop app; it does not run in a browser.
  • You bring your own key. The AI spend is separate, and it is yours.
  • Windows will say "unknown publisher" when you install it. It is not signed yet: the certificate costs money and has not been bought.
  • Version 0.9.0. It is complete and it works, but nobody outside has used it yet.

MOD-RAT exists, installs and works: on 16 August 2026 it ran its first real mission, with real agents. What is missing is not the app — it is a way to charge for it, and people outside to break it before a customer does. When that is done, it will be said here.

Already works

  • Splits a mission across several AIs and audits it.
  • Tabbed terminal and the rat flow, live.
  • Stop button, and a spend counter while it works.
  • A Windows installer, plus a portable version that installs nothing.

Missing before selling it

  • A way to buy it: there is no licence and no payment.
  • Signing the app so Windows stops warning about it.
  • People outside to break it before a customer does.
